I think you should make clear that the animal was not killed purposedly by you or any other person, I mean, it was found dead or was an accident killed on the road or something. If not it's compltely normal that people don't like this kind of taxidermy.

I doubt it very much. Most taxidermy on deviantart is buying things over the internet, and many have used animals that have dies of natural causes, or have been shot for a cull ^^

You don't have to! Lots of wolves are killed for other reasons besides sport, like, some become big problems around farms by killing livestock, and some are taken for population control. The whole point of loving these animals is loving them any way they come, life, and death.

They wouldn't be killing livestock if we stopped taking away their homes. :I And population control? That's hypocritical. We're more populated than animals are. There's over a million of us, are there over a million of them? I hardly doubt that. "Population control" is like playing GOD. I don't even believe in god but they're like-- controlling who lives and who dies. It's disgusting.

Wolves are literally so over populated they are destroying their own homes. They are a danger to endangered species around them when people don't control the populations.

Excuse me? Lmfao. Wolves are not "Over populated", we are. There's more of us than there of them. Get your facts right. At a point in time, they were almost going extinct. They were endangered. Wolves are not dangerous, humans are. And actually, we're destroying their homes. We're destroying all the animals homes by building homes in their territories. Would you want someone building a house right over yours? I'm sure you wouldn't. Don't sit here and make them like it's their fault when it isn't. We're not SUPPOSE to control populations, fuck, we can't even control our own population.

It depends on what species you are talking about?? What the fuck is  your point. Gray wolves are not endangered AT ALL. Do your research babe.

I have done my research, dumbass. How about you stop being so arrogant and learn about wolves before you make an observation about them.
My point is:

That wolves aren't fucking dangerous like you and people claim them to be. We're the only dangerous species because we're controlling who dies and who lives because of "over-population". It's hypocritical because we're the only ones who've truly over-populated,not the animals.  It's asinine/ridiculous. Actually, all types of wolves were literally endangered because people still hunted and shot them for their pelts and sold their meat and buy them to be mounted and stuffed.

They may be wild animals, but that don't make them dangerous just because it's their nature to eat when they're hungry. Humans kill for sport and for fun,not for survival.

If you wanna sit here and blab on about shit you don't even have a clue about, so be it. But I'm not gonna waste my time with some arrogant waste of space. Lol. It's not worth it.

I agree with most of your terms. Wolves are not dangerous and rarely attack humans, only will do in means of protection and hunting for sport is sick. But i don't think you should get in a hissy to someone else about it, no offense. Everyone has different opinions.

I just don't think you should have a go at the person who owns the magnificent animal in the above photo. It may not have been shot, many taxidermists will take in road kill such as deer and other animals and make them look alive again. This wolf may have been run over, not hunted. Even if this wolf was hunted then the person in the photo may not have done it. I'm against hunting, i'm against all animal cruelty and have been a vegetarian for over 3 years now, but i do support taxidermy in most cases. The people who do it are giving a dead animal 'life' again, if you may, and i'd rather that than they throw the carcass away and allow the creature to be forgotten.

Yes I Know, But These Days People Are Killing Animals Just For The Fun Of It. And When I Was Little, A Farmer Told Me A Story About A Mother Cow. He Said That The Cow Gave Birth To A Sick Calf And That It Died 30 Minutes After Birth. The Mother Cow Left The Dead Calf And The Next Day A Wolf Came And Ate It. Then The Owner Of The Livestock Saw The Wolf Eating The Dead Calf And Shot It. Some Of It Is Misunderstood. I Just Wish People Understood These Animals More.

People who hunt for sport are not to be trusted, but even sport hunting helps. Sport hunters pay money to hunt these animals, and the money goes STRAIGHT to conservation services for these animals. And if no one hunted predators for sport, how many species of elk and deer would be extinct? A fuckton. And that story is kind of bullshit, What are you going to do, ask the wolf what happened? oh wait, you can't.

was he killed only to be mounted? i have no problem with taxidermy but i believe it should not be killed for it, unless the meat is eaten or if it was found dead, because i do believe taxidermy is better than letting them rot.

Most wolves are killed or trapped, at least where its legal, to be sold to the fur industry. Hats, coats, ect... Although it sad that most people frown upon eating other carnivore, even when they deliberately hunt for them, I'd like to believe that at least the animal is getting some sort of use. I mean when you turn a wolf into a coat it louses some of its personality, its identity. But when you mount it some of that shines through and it is still recognizable as "wolf" not just a scrap of nondescript fur.

It's called a Soft Mount (or less popular term ''Taxidermy Plush''). Basically, the head of the pelt is mounted traditionally, and the rest of the body is filled with stuffing (the same stuff you'll use for plushes) and sewn up.

Soft Mounts are normally frowned upon by major Taxidermists who specialise in the more traditional form of Taxidermy, but they're very popular on dA.

Because old-school taxidermists don't see it as taxidermy, they see it as "Glorified pillow pets" to quote a Taxidermy.net member. The problem I have with this view is that the point of taxidermy is to restore the animals to as lifelike a state as possible. Traditional mounts done right are gorgeous, don't get me wrong..But they can't move. Soft mounts/Plushidermy , especially with an armature, is much closer to alive than any kind of traditional taxidermy. That's my opinion, anyways. I love and am learning both forms of Taxidermy as a career.

Ah. I like soft mounts better. Normal taxidermy is beautiful as well, You can mount them to do what they do in the wild like chasing prey. But with soft mounts you can do way more with them.
